Visit one of the oldest pharmacies in the country, learn more about the profession of pharmacist and discover the interesting history of pharmacy!

In 2020, Valerijonas Pharmacy celebrates the solid 150th anniversary of its foundation. On this occasion, on the initiative of Mrs Almyra Girdenienė, a pharmacist, the long-term manager of the pharmacy, a fragment of a historical pharmacy was installed in the pharmacy, where historical pharmacy values are exhibited.

Lots of historical exhibits (about 170) were handed over to the pharmacy by Mr Liudvikas Rulinskas, a member of the Lithuanian Pharmaceutical Union, the Lithuanian Local History Society and a deserving pharmacist-provisor of Lithuania, who together with his wife Antanina, who is also a pharmacist-provisor, has accumulated a large collection of pharmacy exhibits.

Adults and children visiting the museum will be interested to know what the centuries-old prescriptions looked like, to see the medicines produced and packaged in the past and the pharmacist's instruments, and to take a closer look at rare and famous all over the world medical preparations.

The majority of the museum's exhibits are related to the local history of medicine and pharmacy, Šiauliai Pharmaceutical Laboratory "Galen", the interwar pharmaceutical companies ("SANITAS", "Ger Ma Po").

And the most curious visitors will be invited to get acquainted with the ancient tableting machine. It is a special device that uses compressive force to turn powder into tablets of uniform size and thickness.

Admission to the museum is free, you can visit the museum having registered in advance at the Tea Shop Valerijonas by phone +370 41 520 738.
