2023 April 21 - May 13 the art exhibition "Graphic games" of the Polish artist Amadeus Popek is open in Šiauliai art gallery.

The exhibition opens in 2023 April 21, 5:00 p.m. Visiting the exhibition during the opening is free.

AMADEUS POPEK’S CREATION EXHIBITION „GRAPHIC GAMES”

The exhibition presents large-format graphic works, created with the help of flat printing technology, screen printing. The main theme of the exhibition is lyrical abstraction, which consists of different cycles of works on the themes of games (labyrinth, Chinese billiards, etc.), surreal landscapes and metaphorical objects (sweater, crutches, frames, etc.). The exhibition is dominated by black and white graphics, which are interspersed with the artist’s colorful works from his latest cycles.

 

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Doctor of Arts Amadeus Popek works at the Faculty of Arts of Marija Curie Sklodovska University. in 2002 obtained diplomas in painting art and graphic design, for which he received the dean’s award. in 2006 started working at the Department of Graphic Design and Flat Printing under prof. Zdzisław Niedźwiedź, and in 2008 transferred to the Department of Graphic Design and Screen Printing.

in 2013 the artist was awarded the degree of Doctor of Fine Arts, fine arts discipline. Since 2016 In the Department of Graphic Design and Screen Printing, he holds the position of workshop curator and technological process supervisor. From 2018 holds the position of docent and is responsible for the development of the technological process. From 2019 also works at the Department of Graphic Design and Flat Printing.

As a docent, he teaches graphic design, illustration, screen printing and English to Erasmus students. In his artistic work, he mainly uses drawing, screen printing, etching and aquatint techniques. The artist’s works have been acquired by private collections and galleries: BWA Bielsko-Bialos, Galeria Centrum Nowa Huta Cultural Center, Vanadzor Art Museum, Vanadzor City Municipality, Armenia and Lublin Cultural Meeting Center. The artist has organized 37 individual exhibitions, including 7 exhibitions abroad. Participated in 32 group national and international exhibitions. Since 2002 is a member of the Polish Association of Artists and Designers. From 2018 – Member of the Warsaw branch of the Association of Polish Artists and Designers.

in 2020 the author was awarded the Memorial Award of the President of the City of Lublin for his artistic activity. While working for many years at the Maria Curie Skłodowska University, he has prepared and delivered several lectures on the screen printing technique, its history and application possibilities. He has repeatedly organized silk-screen printing workshops and delivered presentations at the Lublin Science Festival, which attract a lot of interest from young screen-printing creators and enthusiasts. Not only as a screen printing practitioner, but also as a theoretician, the artist considers it his mission to popularize the screen printing technique to a wide audience.
