THE BELL OF LOVE / WHERE BELL VOICES COME FROM

Monuments and sculptures, Siauliai

The artistic accent called “Iš kur varpų balsai pareina” is built on Šiauliai boulevard. It is a four-meter-high column decorated with folk motives with the bell on the heart-shaped top. The author of the sculpture Darius Augulis calls it “The Bell of Love”.

The sculpture is unique as it is a monolith: a four-meter-high piece of art is carved from a single granite stone, which was brought to Šiauliai from Sweden. The bronze bell was cast in Poland, in the same foundry where Wawel cathedral bells were cast. It weighs 30 kilograms.

According to the author, each of us carries the symbol of the bell in our heart, and EVERYONE can tell what this accent discloses to us. For you, you, you and you ...

The heart is the centre, the mediator between Heaven and Earth. This is where the top and bottom, the physical and spiritual worlds will join. The top and the bottom. The heart is where the relation between the God and Man exists. A sense of the world and love for all living beings.
