Aušrinė was considered a virgin of extraordinary beauty in Lithuanian mythology. It is associated with the Sun, lighting it up in the mornings. The symbol of dawn is the pentagram.It is believed that 4-5 thousand years ago Cows have been sacrificed to Aušrinė for years, and Aušrinė herself appears in myths as a mares mare. In India, the cow is still considered a sacred animal and is called ushra (= dawn, cow).
