St. John's Day by Lake Rėkyva

June 23 at 7 p. m. The most magical summer holiday - St. John's Day - will be celebrated on the shores of Lake Rėkyva.

St. John's Day is one of the oldest traditional holidays in Lithuania, also known as Domes or Dews, for many it is symbolized by searching for a fern flower, burning bonfires or weaving wreaths and washing them with water.

This year, the Šiauliai Cultural Center invites you to celebrate St. John's Day with a fun concert program and other activities.

Program

CONCERT
Amateur art groups of the Šiauliai Cultural Center are participating: folk dance group "Vajaunas" (art director R. Laugalis), folk dance ensemble "Kalatinis" (art directors I. Šerpytienė and E. Račkauskas), folklore ensemble "Sidabrinė gija" (art director manager V. Taučienė-Rezgienė), folk dance studio "Šermukšnėlė" of Šiauliai Dainų progymnasium (managers I. Šerpytienė and E. Račkauskas), senior folk dance group "Šermukšnis" (manager I. Šerpytienė), music groups: "Folk Trio", "Sidabro", "Atalyja".

TRADITIONAL JOHNIAN RITE
Meeting of the participants at the gate of the transformation of the Sun, dome making, gathering from domes, floating wreaths, the ceremony of lighting the bonfire and the big domes and escorting the sun.

ENTERTAINMENT FOR CHILDREN AND ADULTS
Pot smashing, bracelet making, badge making and other activities.

St. John's wreath will be available for purchase during the event!
