MEDIA ART FESTIVAL "ENTER'21"

May 19–20 the media art festival „Enter’21” invites you to explore the extremes of media!

The festival exhibitions will run until 2023 June 10.

MEDIA EXTREMES

In the age of media, we live virtually: war moves to TikTok, politics to Facebook, the search for happiness to Instagram. Art splits into several parts: it simultaneously seeks to remain critical and symbolically analyzes big data, fiercely defends the power of bodily expressiveness, and creates futuristic posthumanist projects. The 21st media art festival „Enter” organized by the Šiauliai Art Gallery is also like this – from sensual performances to Big data and mediated painting transformations.

FRIDAY, MAY 19, 5:00 PM (ŠIAULIU ART GALLERY, VILNIUS STR. 245)

The two young performance artists participating in the opening of the festival – Ainė Petkūnaitė and Gabija Švanatė (curator Monika Dirsytė) – offer bodies as the only relevant means, guided by the cocoon of virtuality or the grip of technological extensions of the body.

Galintas Laurišas exhibition „I was thinking something Pt. 2” is special for its unexpected maneuvering between apocalyptic textual interventions, the color of traditional painting, drastic street art and provocative subtleties of communication.

The visual communication exhibition „AIDA” curated by Marius Žalneravičius will combine bioprinters, generative art, sound and color synesthesia and absurd situations provoked by data overload.

FRIDAY, MAY 19, 7:00 PM. (LDS GALLERY „S_IN”, AUŠROS AL. 41)

Students of the Telšiai Faculty of the Vilnius Academy of Arts will demonstrate the possibilities of visual storytelling as reflections of their senses and art iconography.

SATURDAY, MAY 20, 2:00 P.M. (ŠIAULIU ART GALLERY, VILNIUS STR. 245)

We will devote time to a theoretical discussion about the situation of journalism in the era of media expansion, in which well-known innovators and activists of journalism will participate: multimedia journalist Berta Tilmantaitė and war photojournalist Vidmantas Balkūnas.

Is the work of a war journalist really so romantic? How do you compromise with your conscience when telling a story about war? In the current age of smart devices, are war journalists needed at all, what new can they show? These are very important questions to which we will look for answers together with Vidmantas Balkūnas.

Berta Tilmantaitė will share her insights about the limits and possibilities of current journalism, about what is personally most important to her when mediating between the event and the audience.

The program of the colorful media art festival „Enter” is relevant and universal at the same time: the violence of war, information and visual distortions, the situation of the body in virtuality – all this is relevant for the organizers of the festival.
