On April 14, a training session titled “Urban Forms and Structures: The Case of Šiauliai” took place in Šiauliai, aimed at public sector professionals of the city. The training was led by Dr. Tomas S. Butkus – an architect, Doctor of Humanities, publisher, and creator of artistic initiatives, known for his interdisciplinary approach combining architecture, literature, and visual art. During the session, participants discussed urban structures and systems, human interaction with the environment, and sustainable development.
The day began with a unique guided tour of Šiauliai’s Southern district, titled “If You Haven’t Been to Pietinis, You Haven’t Been to Šiauliai”, led by guide Alfonsas Zaleskis. The tour offered participants a new perspective on everyday urban spaces and their urbanistic value.
The event was held as part of the 2021–2027 VI-A Latvia–Lithuania Cross-Border Cooperation Programme Project “Strengthening the Capacities of Public Sector Specialists to Improve Service Quality in Tourism Institutions of Šiauliai City and Bauska District Municipalities” (No. LL-00141, acronym “Quality under Control”).
