This weekend, Šiauliai is buzzing with events that will bring together locals and visitors for active, cultural, and fun experiences. From a runway race at a military airfield to a "cepelinai" (stuffed potato dumplings) eating contest – here are some of the weekend’s highlights!
RUNWAY RUN 25 – A Unique Run on the Runway
On March 29, the unique “Runway Run 25” returns to the Lithuanian Air Force Aviation Base! Participants will have the chance to complete a 3000-meter course on the military airfield's runway, which will be lit up in the colors of the Lithuanian flag. This event commemorates Lithuania's NATO membership and brings together soldiers, athletes, and anyone eager to participate.
In addition to the race, attendees will have the opportunity to see fighter jets from NATO’s Air Policing Mission up close, explore military equipment, and enjoy music from DJ MAMANIA. After the run, Paulina Paukštaitytė will perform, and the event will be hosted by Rolandas Mackevičius.
CAMERATA SOLARIS – The First Concert of the City’s Symphony Orchestra
On March 29 at 3:00 PM, classical music will fill the “Saulė” Concert Hall. The Šiauliai City Symphony Orchestra CAMERATA SOLARIS invites you to its debut concert. The program includes: Petras Geniušas – Conversations with Čiurlionis; Ludwig van Beethoven – Egmont Overture and Symphony No. 5. The concert will be conducted by Vilhelmas Čepinskis, and the renowned pianist Petras Geniušas will perform. Free admission!
Tours of the St. Peter and Paul Cathedral Tower
Would you like to see Šiauliai from a bird’s-eye view? On March 30, guided tours of the cathedral tower will take place, offering a stunning panoramic view of the city. Participation with a guide: €6 + a donation to the cathedral.
Cepelinai Festival at Bubiai Manor
Do you love Lithuanian cuisine? On March 29, the Cepelinai Festival will take place at Bubiai Manor Brewery! In addition to delicious cepelinai, visitors will enjoy live folk music performed by the band "Trys plius Trys" and an exciting cepelinai eating contest. The winner who eats four 300g cepelinai first will receive a €100 prize!
Sun Robot Battle 2025
For technology enthusiasts, the international “Sun Robot Battle 2025” will take place on March 29. Participants will compete in 15 different robotics categories, and spectators will get to witness smart robots in action. Location: Šiauliai State College, Faculty of Business and Technology.
