April 17 – May 9, 2026 – the solo exhibition “Artì” by designer Emilija Globytė is on view at the Šiauliai Art Gallery.
The exhibition opens on Friday, April 17, at 5:00 PM. Admission is free during the opening event.
ABOUT THE EXHIBITION
The exhibition invites visitors to immerse themselves in the search for intimacy within design processes—emerging between result and transformation, material and tactility, function and aesthetics. Through drawing, photography, and an intuitive gaze, the artist captures states of continuity and constant change, which become starting points for new design objects. Here, however, the object is not perceived as a final outcome, but as an open phenomenon, acquiring subtle, intuitive symbolic meanings.
In the exhibition, intimacy is also revealed as a slow, close relationship with materials: copper, black alder, and concrete. By observing their properties and transformations throughout the creative process, E. Globytė remains open to the patterns and forms suggested by the materials themselves, thus gaining new visual and tactile experiences.
Artì opens a contemplative view into creation, where the hand becomes an extension of thought, and the inner experience of materials allows authentic, essential knowledge to emerge. It is an invitation to slow down and experience design as a field of intimacy, sensitivity, and continuous transformation.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Emilija Globytė (b. 2000, Šiauliai) is a creator, designer, and exhibition curator. In 2023, she graduated from the Telšiai Faculty of the Vilnius Academy of Arts with a BA in Design (specialising in furniture design) and obtained a Master’s degree in Applied Arts. During her Master’s studies, she was awarded the President Antanas Smetona Scholarship for the academic year 2024–2025.
In her work, she explores the notion of intimacy within the design process—intermediate forms, materiality, and the experiential states of matter. Her practice is characterised by a slow, attentive approach, “thinking through the hands,” and the use of non-ferrous metal—copper—as one of the key materials.
Since 2016, she has participated in group exhibitions in Lithuania and abroad. In 2024, she held a solo exhibition In Between at Klaipėda Gallery. Her work has been presented in group exhibitions such as Master and Apprentice (Vienna, 2026), Domestic Visions (Vartai Showroom, Vilnius, 2025), as well as in the Vilnius Academy of Arts exhibition Class of 2023 at Dutch Design Week 2023 (Eindhoven, the Netherlands). She has also participated in joint exhibitions in Telšiai, Biržai, Alytus, Šiauliai, and Vilnius. She currently lives and works in Telšiai.
