64th Annual Šiauliai Artists' Exhibition 'Šiauliai Art'"

Exhibitions

From June 13 to July 6, the Šiauliai Art Gallery will host the 64th Annual Exhibition of Šiauliai Artists, "Šiauliai Art", organized by the Šiauliai branch of the Lithuanian Artists' Association.

The exhibition will open on Friday, June 13, at 5:00 PM. Admission is free during the opening event.

The visual art life of Šiauliai city and region is ongoing and dynamic. It is a multidirectional process. Established traditions and creative tendencies are constantly being replaced by new ones; departing artists are succeeded by young, ambitious creators in search of fresh opportunities. Active and innovative art centers are emerging: the independent project space "Garažas", and artists gathered around the editorial office of Šiaulių kraštas, who host creative workshops in their studios for those wishing to explore the mysteries of art. Thematic art education is also carried out by various institutions and public organizations.

Almost every year, new members join the Šiauliai branch of the Lithuanian Artists’ Association. The Šiauliai Art School and the Šiauliai Saulius Sondeckis Gymnasium of Arts nurture the city’s young bohemian generation. This multifaceted activity helps to compensate for the closure of the former Faculty of Arts and transforms its artistic context with new traditions.

The visual art scene is also enriched by young artists returning from abroad. Each of their contributions plays a vital role in the cultural life of the city. This creates a new artistic synergy, in which fresh perspectives and opportunities for continuity in visual art are increasingly visible.

Once a year, this continuous process pauses, inviting all participants of the art scene to engage in collective reflection, personal evaluation, and communal self-check. This moment of pause is marked by the 64th exhibition of visual art by creators from Šiauliai city and region. First and foremost, it is a festive summer event, an opportunity for encounters, and a space for unexpected discoveries.
