"RE-PAINTED" EXHIBITION OF PAINTINGS BY EGLĖ KARPAVIČIŪTĖ

2022 December 22 – in 2023 January 28 Eglė Karpavičiūtė's painting exhibition "Re-painted" is open in Šiauliai art gallery.

 

The painter is a consistent researcher of the cultural field. Her works are visual comments about painting, history, art institutions: museums, galleries, exhibition spaces. The artist observes and captures cultural time and its changes, talks about the contemporary specifics of art presentation and consumption habits, the identity of the painter, the artist, the role of the viewer as an art consumer, his (and her) faith and doubts about the painting.

Eglė Karpavičiūtė (b. 1984) is a painter. He finished painting studies at the Vilnius Academy of Arts. Organized individual exhibitions, participated in dozens of group exhibitions in Lithuania and abroad. The artist’s works are exhibited in prestigious art institutions (National Art Gallery and Center of Contemporary Art in Lithuania, Estonian Art Museum KUMU, Swiss PasquArt Contemporary Art Center, etc.), works are in the collection of the Lithuanian National Art Museum, MO Museum, Lewben Art Foundation. in 2011 E. Karpavičiūtė entered the final of the prestigious competition „The Sovereign European Art Prize“ in Istanbul. In 2013, the artist was awarded an individual state scholarship by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Lithuania. in 2015 E. Karpavičiūtė won the main prizes in two international competitions „Premio Combat Pize 2015“ and „Donkey Art Prize“. The artist is a multiple finalist of the „Young Painter’s Prize“ competition and the winner of the audience’s prize.


The exhibition is part of the contemporary art and fashion festival „Virus’27“.
