On June 18 at 5 p.m. '''Gegužinė' will take place on the stage of the central park of Šiauliai (Žemaitės st. 70B).
The Šiauliai Brass Orchestra (artistic director and conductor Sigitas Vaičiulionis, conductor Gediminas Brūzga) with soloists will create a festive upbeat mood.
''Gegužinė'' or May Day (from Polish "majowka") is a folk festival with dances, songs and acting elements. The tradition of such fun gatherings originated in Lithuania at the end of the 19th century and spread during the period of national revival. Šiauliai May Festivals, held at the beginning of the 20th century in Alexandria and Bubiai, were famous throughout Lithuania.
The fun music of the Šiauliai Wind Orchestra will invite you to dance, communicate and share a good mood. Alcohol will not be consumed during the celebration.
